Tools that let you make games (and other things?) using plain text / just a text editor (eg: Notepad). These should be accessible on all sorts of computers.
Probably the most famous text editor is Notepad, but here're some more advanced text editors you might like to try. Often they include features like tabs so you can have multiple files open at one, and syntax highlighting so things are easier to read.
- Geany - Linux. But your distro probably includes a good one by default.
- Notepad++ - Windows.
- Brackets - Linux, Mac, Windows.
